Have you ever thought of going to the biggest island in Thailand? I always wondered what the largest Thai island looks like until one day I decided to go. Phuket is the Largest Thai island. It is a home of the finest beach destinations, the lively towns, white-sand beaches, amazing seas and palm trees. Phuket provides a variety of experiences such as diving, swimming, surfing, beach bumming, delicious and fabulous food, hedonistic pleasure and hiking.
The island never failed to surprise me. The moment I reached my destination, I was really amazed and fell in love with its beauty and nature. However, Phuket is not a so cheap place to travel. In fact, it is one of the most expensive cities in Thailand. The variety of activities, food and most especially the transportation. Traveling around the island costs a lot if you rent Tuktuk or private cars. One trip costs 400- 500 Baht for a 10-20 minute journey. On the other hand, renting a motorbike for a day is only 200 Baht, all you have to do is to fill the gas tank full. It is much cheaper than getting a public transportation.
Patong is the largest beach resort on the island of Phuket and it is known as the party capital of Asia for its famous nightlife and the gorgeous beaches. By night, the town has a lively nightlife which includes hundreds of restaurants, nightclubs, beer bars, and cabaret shows. The nightlife is centered around Soi Bangla or they call it (Bangla Road) however, there are also some quiet parts of the town.
I was in Phuket to celebrate Songkran Festival or also known as the Thai New Year. While waiting for my boyfriend to arrive Thailand, I decided to enjoy the party in Bangla Road with my big water gun. It was a night of fun when everybody was enjoying the splashing of water to each other. My boyfriend and I decided to stay in a quiet road than staying in Bangla itself.
Big Buddha Phuket
Big Buddha Phuket is a 45-meter tall marble statue. It sits atop the highest peak of Nakkerd Hills in Ao Chalong. It is visible to most of the southern part of the island because of its massive structure. It is one of the most popular attractions on the island of Phuket and it is very accessible so, many tourists drop by this spot and enjoy the panoramic view from the top. Big Buddha Phuket is also known as Phra Putthamingmongkolekanagagiri for Thai people. This place is considered sacred to Thai people and everyone who comes here is expected to dress politely.
We took a motorbike to reach the place. The road going to the statue was a bit steep and curvy so, be extra careful when riding a motorbike. It is a busy road coz many tourists try to visit the place.
Karon Beach is third longest beach on Phuket Island. It is located on the west coast. It is between Patong and Kata and is one of the most popular beaches on the island. Karon Beach is not as crowded as Patong Beach. Visitors can find an excellent choice of good dining, shopping, and nightlife as well. It is perfect to stroll at night on the beach. Karon Beach is a perfect place to relax and enjoy sunbathing.
My boyfriend and I went to Karon Beach, we did sunbathing, relaxing, dining, waiting for the sun to set, parasailing and strolling. With so many things to do on the beach, we felt so amazed and relaxed seeing the people enjoying around. Before we headed ourselves to the beach, we decided to stop in one of the restaurants in front of the beach and had some cold drinks. After some drinks, we went to the beach, relaxed a bit, and before sunset, we decided to try parasailing. It was 4000 Baht for two people but we asked for a discount. They finally gave us the last price which was 3000 Baht.
Prompthep Cape has the most spectacular viewpoint on the island of Phuket. It is also known as one of the most photographed and best-known locations. Every afternoon, large tour buses, private cars, scooters pass by Rawai Beach up to the southernmost part of the island to witness the peak of the sunset. Promthep is busy most of the time so, dining in the restaurant needs a reservation.
We arrived in Promthep Cape just earlier before the sun sets. Many people were already there waiting for the sun to go down. Everyone was getting ready and preparing their cameras and mobile phones just to capture the amazing time of the day. We had a reservation in the restaurant so that we could stay a bit longer and experience a lovely moment. I always love sunsets.
