Katora Lake is an alpine glacial lake located in the upper reaches of Jahaz Banda, Kumrat valley in Upper Dir District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the Province of Pakistan. The lake is fed by the surrounding melting glacier waters. The word Katora means “bowl” in Pashto. It was named after the lakes resemblance to a bowl shape. Katora Lake, means bowl in Pashto language, is a high altitude lake. It is an alpine glacial lake located in the upper reaches of Jahaz banda. Jahaz Banda is a lush green and idyllic hill station in Upper Dir Kohistan region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at an altitude of 3,100 m above sea level. The region is surrounded by snow-clad mountains, towering trees, and covered by green pastures.
